The SEC delays adopting a climate disclosure rule til April?
Yesterday, the SEC revealed its latest Reg Flex Agenda – and one of the bigger items is an acknowledgement that we won’t see the SEC adopt final climate disclosure rules this month. The Reg Flex Agenda estimates the SEC will act by April – but that is merely an estimate and the SEC has delayed adoption of this rule now by more than a year. So anything is possible.
But with a Presidential election bearing down on us next year, I imagine the SEC has to act at some point. Here’s a bare-bones statement from SEC Chair Gary Gensler about the Reg Flex Agenda.
The SEC also estimated it would adopt changes to the shareholder proposal rule by April – and propose rules on board diversity and human capital disclosures by October. But those are mere estimates too…
