The EU sustainable finance taxonomy could be tainted.

This note by Andreas Hoepner – which highlights this longer piece by Andreas – drives home the point that a NYE move to make fossil gas emissions “green by law” for the EU’s Platform for Sustainable Finance is a huge step backwards (and may not be permissible in the way it was done):
– New Year’s Eve Attack on the “Green” in Sustainable Finance at 9:59pm Brussels time.
– Up to 1.4 billion (!) tons (!) of fossil gas CO2e pollution are to be declared “green by law”.
– This number is so big, it would exceed the annual CO2e emission of France, Poland, Czechia, Romania, Greece, Hungary, Bulgaria, Finland and Sweden added together (see the image in this note)
