How ESG matures over time as companies make progress

This framework by Bain & Co. provides an excellent segmentation of a company ESG integration maturity. The framework which I re-created, with slight enhancements, in the attached table is segmented into four levels: Beginner, Emerging, Mature, and Pioneer. At each level, the scope of data collected, its quality, the infrastructure to ingest it, and actionability-tied to it are enhanced.

Companies integrating ESG data in their operations, and ESG solution providers building solutions to enable such integration would benefit a great deal from segmenting their ESG maturity in this fashion. Companies should assess where they are on this table and establish a roadmap to reaching higher maturity levels. Selecting a proper ESG solution provider or providers to get them is critical piece of this process.
