Countries slow to sign CSRD into national law

The current status of CSRD transposition into national law is very sobering – only nine countries have fully transposed the Directive into national law yet (out of the 27 EU member states, plus 3 EEA countries). Great overview by ESG Book in the image in this post.

The deadline for CSRD transposition was 6 July 2024. Although delayed transposition happens often, it is worrying that some EU countries are either at early (draft) stages of transposition or show no development. This sends wrong signals, also with regard to transposition of other Directives (the time for CSDDD just started in July).

Have a look at the EU’s own analysis of transposition delays. The average delay stands at 18.3 months (all-time high).
